Numerical Study on Heterogeneous and Homogeneous Reaction of the Burning Off Process in a Coke Oven

Abstract


This study is one of very few studies which have investigated a feasibility study of the burning off of carbon deposit by means of air injection in a coke oven. It is performed with a numerical simulation of transient, three-dimensional transport equations for turbulent reacting flow in coke oven. The result shows that injection higher air flow rate would effectively reduce the carbon deposits. In the meantime, the opened charging holes would suck extra oxygen from atmosphere to participate in reaction.
